We had some Valentine’s Day fun in the Playroom! Love seeing the kids play in here.
They love cooking up yummy food in here so I added a few pink touches for some Holiday fun!
You can see the typical playroom set up here – Room Tour: Our Playroom
I love decorating this space with seasonal details… We’ve done a Spooky Playroom and a Christmas Playroom!
We once turned this space into a Grocery Store too!
Now on to the Valentine’s day themed space!!………….
I grabbed some Valentine’s Day themed construction paper from Target to make a paper chain garland.
I got the flower garland at Michaels.
The wooden heart garland and pink sign are both from Hobby Lobby.
I grabbed some pink containers from our craft room and hung up the pink heart dish towel I had in the kitchen. (It’s from the Target bargain bins!)
The rugs are from other rooms in the house- One day I want to have a rug in this space but for now we just shuffle rugs around depending on the need.
The fax flowers on the wall are from Michaels or ones we already had. The pink flowers in pots are from IKEA that I had gotten last year.
The boys are wearing aprons from the Target Bargain bins this summer!
We get asked a lot about the long white countertop piece in their play kitchen.
We built it (along with the smaller piece on the far right) and shared a tutorial years ago! DIY Play Kitchen – Pretend Play Area.
With five kids and one on the way…. we wanted more space for the kids to get cooking. They usually all end up in there some days and we wanted to give them more countertop space and some shelves for arranging things. ;) The middle kitchen unit is from IKEA and we gave it a makeover years ago. This is the most used room in the house! Every single day some, if not all, of the kids are playing cafe or school or store in there.
Over the years we have grown an amazing collection of play food for the kids!
Every Christmas we give each child a new set…and our favorites are from Learning Resources and Melissa and Doug.
You can check out our Amazon List of Play Food we have and love!
I get asked a lot about the containers holding our flowers!
The containers themselves are from Hobby Lobby and I snagged them with one of their coupons.
I change up the faux flowers depending on the season.
The rack on the wall is from Hobby Lobby! Most of those play food items in it came in sets that had a metal holder…but the kids never put them back in the metal holders and they ended up in the baskets or on the floor so I’m trying out this wall rack instead! Thinking it’ll make it easier for them to put up the food and have more counter top space.
Thanks for stopping by!! I hope you feel inspired to create a play kitchen area for your kids!!
I love this whimsical and fun space for them to use their imaginations!
