Today on the blog we are sharing Sophia’s room with you! I blinked and she is about to turn 12!
We had been wanting to update her space a bit and she was wishing for a “beachy” room.
During Quarantine we shopped the house, ordered a few things online and made her room totally HER!
I love how easily it is for Sophia to clean her room-we chatted about how she needed to use the space and came up with a good game plan. Desk/night stand, dresser, wall decor details.
In Sophia’s closet she has some cube storage cubbies for toys and more clothes.
We painted before Thanksgiving but I still need to track down the color for the post- I’ll add it in here!
We rearranged her bed to be right in front of the window and I think it works with her sheer IKEA curtains. It all feels very bright in there.
Her IKEA LEIRVIK queen bed got an update with a new duvet cover back in winter. (Target clearance find.) And I gave her a pillow we had in the family room since it added to a beach vibe she wanted. ;)
In the main space she needed a desk and we had it double as a nightstand. It’s a steal of a find from Target. Only $80: Hair Pin Writing Desk.
For now she’s using her old IKEA stool but eventually we are going to replace it.
The framed print above the desk I got at Hobby Lobby on sale. (recently!)
The lamp we had in my room (it’s from Walmart) but I switched it with something else because it matched her room so well.
The palm leaves and flower arrangements are from Hobby Lobby. A couple of us mamas in the neighborhood threw the girls a little luau for the end of school and I had these on the table.
Sophia really wanted to have a gallery wall in her room. We used a bunch of frames we had, mixed with a few new ones, to make it all come together. One night we had fun painting and framed some of them! I love incorporating baby photos/favorite photos into the gallery walls. Makes me smile every time I walk through her room and see them.
The frames are a mix from IKEA and Target.
Ben found this dresser for Sophia on Facebook Marketplace. Sophia loved the color and I think it gives a great pop to the room!
We had this thrifted mirror for ages and it was perfect above the dresser. Her little lamp is from Target. She had that and the frame already in her room. (The framed photo is from a past birthday party dessert table: it was a luau theme!) The plant is from Target (current.)
We arranged her bulletin board and other decor items we had over on one corner of the wall – She loves being able to hang her calendar and photos.
The plant was in Hunter’s room but he didn’t appreciate it as much as Sophia did so we “shopped the house” and moved it to her room. ;)
I found 3 tiered rustic floating shelves on Amazon and she can regularly add and arrange her trinkets there.
Her room is very airy, beachy and neutral enough where she can grow and rearrange how she wants as she goes into her tween years!
I love that she has this space that is functional and all her own. Thanks for stopping by!
