I’m so glad I made an organization plan in our playroom because it’s made playtime and cleanup so much better! I wanted to share my finds with you, in case you are like me, and wanting to reduce chaos in your home! I’m all about systems to make things easier for everyone… (MOM especially. ;) I got you!
Here’s the most recent PLAYROOM VIDEO I shared over on Instagram! Keep on reading to get all the details.
Having our playroom on the main floor has been great. The kids love it and, when we have parties or company over, the little ones have a place to hang thats nearby us adults!
The universal issue with playrooms….they get messy fast! With this space being right in view all the time…I had to have a game plan. So first things first I focused on the activities my kids (and their friends) really liked to play with CONSISTENTLY. And that was definitely playing kitchen and cafe. So the focus of this playroom had to be that. I also wanted to make books available to them in this space and show off their artwork. OK! Let’s dive into what I bought to make this space functional.
I should also note that the paint color is Sherwin Williams’ Comfort Gray. (I have this color in 3 rooms in our house!) And the bulletin boards are from Hobby Lobby.
I found these book storage pieces on Amazon and LOVED how they showed off the covers of the books- the kids are more likely to grab one to read! I also liked the storage underneath for toys. Covered both needs. This holds a good amount of books and I like to cycle them through. We used to have a huge library of bookshelves, that was gorgeous, but there was a lot of books the kids couldn’t reach or see. This made it more manageable for them! I ended up getting two of them. Easy to build and one of my favorite Amazon finds for sure.
I knew I had to have a good storage option for their play food. Over the years we have tried baskets and cubbies…all the things. I wanted something that would make clean up easy. These toy storage pieces I bought off Amazon were perfect! I loved that they were open bins – to easily toss toys in- but also easy for the kids to see what they have! Easy access to their toys. I loved that the top of the piece was a good height for the kids. They could use the top as a counter. And then of course the cubbies are a great place for them to store more of their play food gear. I got two of them and lined them up together. It’s the perfect additional countertop space for when their cafe is slammed and they have to work up a bunch of food orders. ;)
PS. Here is a round up of our favorite play food items we have!
I can’t share this blog post without sharing the fun things Santa brought that just MAKE this space.
The Melissa & Doug Grocery Store + Diner Restaurant have given our kids hours and hours of playtime!
I’m so glad Santa brought it because it’s been a complete hit in our house and regularly played with. PLUS they are so cute!
I also love how the strung up lights make this space so whimsical. It’s gives a fun sparkly glow in their playroom!
