When it comes to plants, I did not get my mama’s green thumb! I usuallyyy go for the mums when decorating my front door for Fall. I get them nice a crispy fried just in time for Halloween. It really adds to the spook factor. ;) BUT this year I decided I was gonna go a different route and I’m loving it!! I walk in and out of my front door with a smile. Today I’m sharing what I used and where I got it. If you are a mum killer like me, but love Fall front door decor, this post is for you!
I had gotten a bunch of faux pumpkins over the past two years- most of them are from Michaels. I didn’t see much left this year there…But I did see some at Hobby Lobby!
To make them stack up nicely, I just took the “stem” off some of them. I don’t glue the pumpkins or anything… so we can change them up however we want.
I had our pots already at the door from the summer (where I fried some other plants) and I wanted to add some greenery to make them look better with the pumpkins.
I grabbed some faux plants at Hobby Lobby that were 50% off! LOVED the selection.
I especially loved the cabbage like plant I found- it really brought it all to life for me!
When looking…I tried to find 1. something that could cascade down the pot… (the two in the middle of the photo below)
2. something that looked like a mum. (the 4 with white blooms)
3.something that was larger and “real” looking (cabbage leaves)
I got a few different garlands from Michaels and layered them around our doorway to get the look I wanted. There’s lots of fun fall garlands out…but I chose to do a mix of fall colors with a greenery garland! (I did 4 strands total.) The greenery garland I used was from Hobby Lobby’s Wedding Aisle! I liked adding a little cool tones to all the warm ones. PLUS I can use that green garland for other Holidays/decor set ups. I also strung up some cute lights from Hobby Lobby. They add a pretty sparkle to the door at night!
Our wreath holder is from Target, last year. I just got this Fall wreath at Hobby Lobby and grabbed a few picks to jazz it up a bit!
You can really show your personality here…they have a bunch of pumpkin and floral picks to choose from!
You just stick them into the wreath…easiest DIY ever. You could also add a ribbon or some other Fall/Halloween themed decor to your wreath.
I already had the rug (from hobby lobby) and updated the front door doormat with this new one from Target!
Come in and Cozy Up
The Hello Fall Sign is from Hobby Lobby, last year. It says Boo on the other side. I’ve seen similar signs at Michaels and Hobby Lobby.
Well, that’s it! It came together super easy…I had a 2 year old helping me move around the pumpkins into just the right place.
I love that I’ll be able to use the greenery again next year… like I re-use my fake pumpkins! It feels good to not waste money on plants I’ll just fry. :)
Hope you feel inspired to give this “can’t kill anything” Fall front door look a try! ;)
