I need to stop “sampling” the easter candy..
but i just want to make sure it’s the best for my family. i know i know, i’m a dedicated mama. :)
Here’s a post I did back at the start of my blogging journey!
When we first bought this house i was pregnant..and major nesting was going on. We pretty much renovated the whole house.. it needed major deep cleaning. we gutted the kitchen..tore up the lovely brown..blue..and beige carpet..and put in brand new throughout.. Painted every room… the nursery 3 times. (i’m blessed with a very very patient husband.hehe.) We did our renovation in stages..working with our budget. There are still so many things we want to do!! but you know how that is. Most of my finds are from Target..Ikea..and random small local shops. Used a lot of childhood belongings. We even have some re-finished curb finds! I used a stamp from Michael’s on part of the walls. To make it more bold and easier..i used paint instead of ink. I just didn’t put too much on my paper plate so it wouldn’t drip. it actually didn’t take too long.
ignore the ugly ac unit. the downside of a huge old house. :-/
my favorite part of the room is the stencil i did. and painting the beams white. i planned on painting in between the beams a lighter pink…but i was hugely pregnant and my painter(my husband) was on strike after painting the room 3 different times for me. i choose my battles wisely…hehe. the stroller in the corner was mine growing up. my mom refinished it and gave it to sophia on her first Christmas. she loves to load it up with her “babies” and push it around.
my mom slip-covered the chair for me. it’s actually bright orange and i used to have it in my room when i was little. It was passed down to me from my Grandmother. Sophia’s favorite thing to do right now is throw the pillows down and climb up and sit there.

The light is from ikea.. cheap cheap. love the sparkle! and the artwork on the wall was from vintage religious children’s book i found in my office. all the frames in the room are ones i got back before i was married at kohl’s on sale. i knew they would come in handy one day. i have yet to put new photos in the frames.right now it’s just “mama and daddy” photos haha.
the baskets were a steal too.. the pink ones were from target..and the green one was from a local shop. (it closed. sad.) sophia likes to totally empty them and sit in them. :) the flowers were like 50 cents each or something crazy like that from Michael’s. I had to fight the urge to buy more..but you can only handle so many artifical flowers in your house…go real! but these are perfect for sophia’s room. she likes to “smell” them..we sniff them and then giggle..it’s become a routine..and i love it.
here’s two videos we took yesterday morning.. i tried to get some of sophia’s recent “tricks” on video.
ignore the crazy bed head hair and focus on the cute baby….hehe.
Here’s some nursery inspiration boards!
baby coming or not..these are so cute!

April 1, 2010 at 7:10 ami wish i took photos of the process! but i wasn’t blogging then. all i did was buy a stamp from Michael’s that i liked… pour some green paint onto a paper plate (barely any) and press them stamp in…blot it a few times..and then press it on the wall. thats it! went up really fast and i love how it turned out! our house is up on the market and that room has gotten great feedback at open houses etc.. :) thanks for stopping by!
