DIY Pallet Name Tag Display

February 25, 2016

I’ve been busy over here prepping for my Moms’ Night Out, so sorry about the lack of posts!
I thought I would share one of the projects we’ve been working on this week.
If you have some sort of event or party coming up this could be a great idea for your name tags or seating charts!

So we had this pallet board in our backyard waiting in the wings for a good project…
I knew I wanted to create a cool display for the name tags…
I saw these brown card stock circles on sale so I grabbed them…and then thought,
heyyy let’s hammer some nails into the pallet board to hang them on!

My handy man husband went with me to Home Depot and we got some wood cut to our dimensions.
We got 4 long pieces of wood and had them make a few cuts on each!
Just measure your pallet board before you go to the store.
Ben hammered them in and we were ready for paint!
This project is great because it comes together quickly.

While I worked on another project the kids were distressing the boards for us. ;)
Spring is teasing us right now!

I got some chalk paint at Home Depot Rust-Oleum Chalk Paint in White Linen
Using a cheap brush I just quickly brushed it on, mostly against the grain, and with
little amount of paint on my brush at a time. It doesn’t have to be perfect!
I wasn’t too detailed or careful to cover every spot. I wanted it to look a little worn and rough in areas.
The best thing about chalk paint is how fast it dries! I was able to get this
whole thing done in one play time outside!
Next, I just figured out how many name tags I wanted in each row…and started hammering!

I had some greenery from Sophia’s Princess Party Castle Backdrop
so I just draped it around the top and then hammerd a nail in some spots to help hold it in place.

To make the name tags, I just hot glued safety pins on the back of the tags
I had found at Michaels on sale. I loved their look and how they were soft enough
to be worn as name tags but heavier weight than brown kraft paper!
I made sure I stuck the correct side of the safety pins into the hot glue
so you could actually open them.

I’m so happy with how it turned out!
I think it could be really cute if you have assigned seating for a shower or wedding.
You could really take it up another notch and do fresh flower and greenery garlands!
Thanks for stopping by the blog today. :)

I love watching you create all of these pieces for your parties!!

While I am creative and crafty, I don’t have the party-planning desire or talent like you do. But I appreciate it so much and to me, it’s like watching a painter create their masterpiece before my very eyes. Amazing!

I’m all the way in central MN so I won’t be joining the party [plus, I’m 36 weeks with my first, so I’m technically not in the motherhood club yet ;) ] but I’ll be creeping on it via IG from afar!

Thanks for sharing your creative brain with us!
