I’ve recently updated the gallery wall in our dining room and wanted to share about the project! Sometimes getting things up on the walls can feel very daunting. I wanted to give you the run down on how I put my gallery walls together, in hopes of getting you encouraged that you can pull it off too! It makes me smile every day as I walk by it…and it’s one of the features in our home that company always comments on loving!
This space is a wall in our Dining Room. We have an open floor plan so this is part of the foyer/entry way too. This is also a “hallway” to the laundry room and one of the ways to the kitchen. All that to say..it’s one of the first things you see when you enter our home and it’s walked by ALL DAY. So I knew it was a space I wanted to make feel like home.
First up – I always measure my wall and then use painters tape, on the floor, to mock up my design. It just helps me to see the frames themselves set up how I want it. In the past, I used to use wrapping paper templates of my frames, to tape up a mock design on the wall. I feel comfortable enough just doing it on the floor – snapping a photo – and then hanging them right up!
All of my frames for this project are from Target or IKEA. Here I linked a few of the frames I use from Target! I had most of these already just added a few to make the design fit just right. I like having different sizes…for an eclectic look, but keeping it all white made it neutral feeling at the same time. If you are nervous about arranging frames in different sizes – go for all the same size! That look is very popular and I’m doing a gallery wall like that in our master bedroom soon. (4 large square frames)
I print all of my photos either on our home printer. (We have a Canon) and then for the large ones too big for my printer, I just hop onto OfficeDepot.com and order them. It’s really easy enough and the quality has always worked for me! Most of the photos are ones I’ve taken with my phone. A few are from professional family photos. But I just want to encourage you not to put off a gallery wall because you don’t have the PERFECT photos or the family photo shoot done… Just gather together some of your current favorites and ENJOY them on your walls! I typically do a refresh ever so often of the photos themselves in all of my gallery walls – it makes me not feel so stressed over picking the perfect ones. Just choose the photos that make you smile!
Let me know if you have any other questions for me – Hope you feel encouraged to hang up your own gallery wall!
