Decorate like a Pro without Spending like One: Practical Concrete Tips. #3 – Paint & Color Combinations

April 17, 2010

I set up a series of posts full of practical concrete tips for making your space look decorated by a pro…but you can take all the credit. ;) and…you know what you are looking for…and what look you want so you go out bargain shopping and be the favorite person of your husband when you come home with money still left in your account. :)

Tip #3
PAINT: The Biggest Bang for your Buck &
Color combinations.
Don’t be afraid of color…and working with a color scheme. You don’t want to go matchy matchy…but you can get a major statement going in the room (and reduce a shopping trip headache) by knowing what colors you are looking for. i LOVE this room.. in our next house…i’m going to use these colors in a space because i love it so much.

My husband is a professional house painter (in addition to being a full-time pastor). Anyway, I drive him CRAZY with my need for COLOR all around.

In our L-shaped kitchen/dining/living rooms … I have 5 colors on the walls. Yes. I. Do. 2 shades of mint green in the kitchen … 2 shades of purple in the living and dining … and a pinky taupe wall that ties the living and dining rooms together. I LOVE it!!! Found a set of antique french doors that were the exact same color of mint green. One hangs over our long bar which separates the dining room and kitchen … the other hands horizontally on the wall above our living room couch. It has 10 window frames in the door … which frame black & white pics of our 10 bio. kids (adopted 3 from Africa after the frame was made). Now, I need an antique window to frame pics of the Ghanaian beauties. :)
