Christmas Day is one of my favorite days of being a Parent!! It’s so magical!
As wild and loud as it can get with 5 kids…there’s also so much joy and fun going on!
We always put together a Christmas Day video and it’s our favorite video of the year.
2020 can officially begin now since I finished this project. haha.
In today’s post I’m sharing photos and the video of our day a long with sharing our family Christmas traditions!
I hope you had a wonderful Christmas with your family!
We have a tradition everyone has a sleepover in the boys’ room on Christmas Eve.
Mainly it started as a way for Ben to keep the littles from sneaking downstairs….but then over the years everyone decided this is a thing we do!
They all giggle up there while Ben gets them to bed. (I always wish him luck. ;) Once they are all asleep he comes on down.
Christmas Eve is such a fun night as a parent!
He eventually goes to sleep in the kid room and we text each other how we are too excited to sleep ;)
Ben told me that at 2 in the morning Asher came over to him and said “I’m so excited!!” and then went back to his bed. hahaha.
It’s also a tradition that we start the morning with a prayer all together before going downstairs.
This year Asher decided to toot right at the end and had us all cracking up. (I kept it in the video. lol.)
Love this family of mine and love how Ben always leads us in a prayer before- He’s our rock and always keeping us pointing towards Jesus as a family!
Here we are on Christmas Eve after Mass. We went to my parent’s house after church for dinner and family fun before heading home for bed! (or attempting bed haha.) The kiddos all had matching pajamas from Target. (Ben and I did too! I thought for sure I was going to pop a button with my baby bump. ;)
Before the kids come downstairs in the morning… I always sneak down to turn on the lights and take photos and a video of the fun that awaits!
Then Ben and I trade spots and he comes downstairs to video tape everyone coming down the stairs.
Our kids wake up EARLY on Christmas morning. So…this is all going down at 6:30 AM. haha.
You might notice little notecards with the kids’ names on them…. we started a tradition this past year where on Christmas Eve the kids draw their name cards and leave them on the mantel for Santa. With 5 kids..and one more coming… sometimes the kids aren’t sure which spot is theirs if they don’t ask for specific things. Like last year everyone was up for anything really haha so it took them a hot minute to realize where they were supposed to go. Big family probs. haha. Honestly this year I don’t think they needed the cards because they could clearly see by the toys where their spot was…. but still..they had fun making their cards and leaving them for Santa to do with them what he wanted!
I love gift giving….almost everything I get for the kids and Ben I get on sale. It’s part of the fun to find a good deal on something I know they’ll love!
Let me know if you see something and want info on it – I’m not going to link toys in this post but comment and I can share where I found it!
Santa always brings the kids a certain amount of toys each…a big present unwrapped and then a few smaller ones wrapped.
Hunter – 2
Asher – 4
Micah – 7
Sienna – 9
Sophia – 11
Santa gifts are pretty sweet but Mom and Dad give the best ones. ;)
We always wrap the presents from Mom and Dad and from the kids to each other and put them under the tree. We also wrap the ones that Grandparents or family send for the kids and put them under the tree as well. Because we are in a season of little ones ripping into presents before it’s time…..Most of the presents I put in big boxes for double protection. haha. So even if they end up unwrapping something…we can catch them before anyone sees what it is!
Those Amazon and Target boxes come in handy!
Some of the best presents of the day are the ones the kids have picked out for each other. Most of them they get from their school’s Santa’s workshop (or their room. haha.) It’s the sweetest thing seeing them give each other a gift they are giddy over. Having a lot of kids can be wild but it’s so amazing seeing their special bonds and relationships.
Here’s some of the photos I snapped on my phone Christmas Morning.
Blurry but the best memories!!!
For Christmas Lunch… we like to do snacky food.
All the fruit, dips, cheese, crackers and treats please!
Crazy to think next Christmas we will have a little baby crawling around!! haha.
I feel like I always am carrying a baby down the stairs in our Christmas videos and I’m totally ok with that. :) It’s always so special seeing them experience Christmas. This year Hunter(2) was way more into it and gave us the best reactions!
Thanks for stopping by to check out our Christmas Day!!
