The Holidays are coming! I love this time of year!
Especially with little ones. It’s so fun when you see it through their eyes!
They think everything is magical. The first set of Christmas lights is up today in our neighborhood and there was shrieking with excitement from the back seat.
Very loud shrieking. Painfully loud. Haha.
I love the memory making that comes with this time of year!
Lots of hot chocolate with mini marshmallows, bribery-driven Christmas card photo ops, hand delivering treats and paper snowflake making!
With the holidays also comes gift giving and the hunt for
the perfect gifts to give without breaking the bank.
BUT there are ways to holiday shop on a budget
AND reward yourself at the same time!
Chase Freedom, Chase Sapphire and Ink from Chase credit cards come with Ultimate Rewards, a program that lets cardholders redeem rewards for travel, gift cards, cash back, merchandise and more!
Are you planning and choosing holiday presents yet?
This year Santa is doing a lot of online shopping and planning ahead to save time!
Chase gets that this time of year can be hectic, so to help save time, Chase Freedom, Chase Sapphire and Ink from Chase cardholders can earn bonus points for shopping online at Ultimate Rewards.
Chase also has a mobile app so Chase Freedom cardholders can redeem
cash back rewards for gift cards via Ultimate Rewards!
To help with your holiday shopping, you have the chance to win a $100 Gift Card!
Woo-hoo!

December 6, 2013 at 11:12 amWe’re being more intentional and relational with our purchases and overall, buying less this Christmas. Rather than exchanging gifts with my brother-in-law and his wife, we’re having a “charity game night” where we will pool our money together and the winner of the game night gets the money for the charity of their choice. We are buying gifts for our 18-mo-old daughter, but it is a mix of things she needs and fair trade/one-for-one gifts that give back, so we’re spending less but “giving” more. Pajamas from the ethical/fair trade Skin & Bliss (http://www.skinandbliss.com/girls-clothes/girls-pyjamas-slippers/hatley-pjs-girls-long-sleeve-pj-set-paisley-birds.html) the most adorable backpack (http://www.skinandbliss.com/brands-category/beatrix-new-york-childrens-lunch-boxes-back-packs/beatrix-new-york-big-kid-back-pack-penelope-the-octopus.html), TOMS shoes, etc…Rather than spending the money for fancy photo Christmas cards this year, we’re saving the photo session for Spring and are sending out cards from Good Cause Greetings with 10% of the proceeds benefiting Feed America.

December 6, 2013 at 11:16 amTo save money during Christmas gift buying season, I did a bulk of my shopping on cyber Monday, with codes that I had accumulated. I also did whatever shopping that I could on a charitable site called psiadoreyou.com They’re amazing! They feature unique, quality items at a major discount and they give a portion of the proceeds to families with children who have cancer. Awesome cause! Check it out! Still have a lot of shopping to do, so $100 towards that fund would be incredible for us, especially since we’re having a small christmas this year- just gifts for our daughter. Thanks!

December 6, 2013 at 11:43 amTo save money for the holidays, I buy early and always when stuff is on sale! Black Friday is the best day. Plan your lists way ahead so you know if it will be on sale during Black Friday. email: katiehesler@gmail.com

December 6, 2013 at 12:07 pmMy holiday shopping strategy is to share the shopping list. I give the kids list to all my family and they let me know what they are getting in ahead of my shopping then I finish the list. By the time the family and grandparents finish shopping there are only 1 or 2 items left:)

December 6, 2013 at 12:53 pmI keep a wishlist on my iphone, and shop year round by keeping my eye out if anything on the wishlist goes on a deep discount. I mostly shop on Amazon too, so I keep things in my cart and when I see something go way down in price I jump on it! I guess its a more slow-going, mindful way to shop! I’m also a big fan of Ultimate Rewards and Chase.

December 6, 2013 at 1:34 pmI started pretty early this year, especially on sites like Groupon. I got a few people out of the way doing that, and then I went out on Black Friday and scored some great deals! It’s all about planning enough ahead of time, which can definitely be difficult. My mind is constantly thinking in the future though, so that helps =)

December 6, 2013 at 7:10 pmI’m doing my best to limit to a rough dollar amount and to keep it to a “want, need, wear” guideline, especially for the kids. They’ll get swamped with gifts from aunts, uncles, grandparents, and friends, so there’s no need for overkill from us.

December 9, 2013 at 12:11 pmI use amazon prime mostly for our shopping. Free 2 day shipping and usually the best prices you can find. I’m also keeping down the # of gifts we are getting and only trying to add on to stuff we already have.

December 11, 2013 at 10:04 pmSince getting married on April20th I am now purchasing gifts for roughly 25 people and enjoy gift giving!! I love to shop year round and to listen to each person I am gifting for in something they really want instead of just another shirt or pants or something the kids won’t use. Etsy and homemade is also my choice Togo to be able to support others! I love gift giving the most just to see everyone’s faces and if I spread it out throughout the year it works better!!
