Budget-Friendly Kitchen Organization Inspiration + New Kitchen Before Shots

June 9, 2010

Right now i’m in the middle of planning our kitchen renovation in the new house. I am wanting this kitchen to be really organized…a place for everything..so that i can be really efficient while i chase the bambinos around!

We are price shopping around for the right cabinets/countertops/appliances..everything….and i’ll post what we end up with and our budget soon. Our kitchen needs some major thinking through in order to make it more functional.
You want to create a natural workflow in your kitchen…you can divide it into three main work zones: a storage zone..washing zone..and cooking zone. We have a very strange layout in our space right now so we’re going to try and make that work..do the “work triangle” as much as is possible in our kitchen. here’s the craziness we are dealing with.. ignore my messy handwriting and scribbles..genius in the works!!!

I am determined to make this space amazing, super functional and all in our budget…stay tuned!
But for now here’s some budget friendly-organization-inspiration from ikea.com

We are considering these cabinets…and i would love a white marble countertop and white subway tile backsplash… pretty pretty! we’ll see though what we find. sometimes you find a bargain/good deal you can’t pass up! Plus i know white marble can stain easily and takes  alot of upkeep..so..we’ll see about that. I also love the butcher block look… either way we go..it’s going to be light and airy because the space isn’t huge.

here’ some more pretty kitchen shots to make you want to get organized and color code every item in your pantry. haha. nesting makes you do crazy things. i have this thing with open shelving. i want to incorporate that into our kitchen. i did that in our first house when we got married and loved it. (but you do have to dust more often.)

Solutions from Martha for an organized kitchen:
1. Maximize space.
2. Put everything within reach.
3. Protect surfaces and group tools.
4. Use every inch.
5. Divide (and conquer) the drawer.
Happy organizing and bargain shopping. :)
i can’t wait to show the progress of the kitchen as it comes along! fun fun!

This is so fun! I can’t wait to see what you pick out. And I have heard the same thing about the marble countertops, but i also know there are some look-a-likes that literally look and feel the exact same but cost a lot less. So if it’s the look you’re going for, that may be a good option, but if you’re going for strictly value, stick to the marble!

Being organized will make any kitchen better whether it’s new or not, but the planning and thought you’re doing now are going to pay off big time in the future when you have the kitchen you want. Keep us posted during the process! Pam @ Sallygoodin

I have the same vision of my ideal kitchen – white cabinets, subway tile, butcher block island. Your new house looks so fun to renovate, I love the arched doorways!

That stove is crazy!! I’ve never seen one like it before! And when it comes to appliances, stay away from the Frigidaire Gallery series!! We’ve had our dishwasher for 4 months and we’ve had 4 service calls on the electric panel/circuit board. And after we bought it, we found out that they have a tendency to catch on fire, randomly, even when they’re not running!
