DIY Cupcake Topper Tutorial

February 22, 2011

Most of you are probably aware of the Party Detail phenomenon known as…
 the DIY Cupcake Topper.
Pretty much every Party or Dessert Table showcased in the blog world has some cute cupcakes topped with some pretty design to go along with the theme!
It’s a fun, easy & affordable way to bring your theme together on your table!
It happens to be one of the most popular items
from my Etsy Shop: Pretty Paperie Printables
(water bottle labels come first!)

I thought i would put together a little short and sweet tutorial on these cuties.
If you haven’t made some up maybe this post will get you feeling creative
and festive and you’ll throw some together for your next event!
They add a lil martha stewart to your display. ;)

when i first made up toppers for the gender reveal party, for our sienna, i cut them out with scissors. I didn’t know of the craft punch isle in my jo-ann’s!! but the day i discovered it, i never looked back. they are pretty much ALWAYS discounted 40% and jo-ann’s always has good coupons..so you have a great chance of getting them for an awesome price!
be sure to check out the scrap booking area of your local craft store for some fun items to look over! But if you don’t have that in your budget, scissors always work!
but the craft punches are way more fun. :)

What an easy tutorial. I never thought of printing it in a square shape and then using a punch to make the shape design for a two-tone effect. Great idea!

I’d love it if you would like this project on our new Party themed blog link party here: http://kimskandykreations.blogspot.com/2011/02/shindig-saturday-party-blog-hop.html

Love following you on IG! I just happened to google how to make your own cupcake toppers and came across this tutorial! Awesome! I’m looking to make some for my daughter’s FROZEN themed birthday party and was interested in what software program you use to create them in a template like that…if you don’t mind sharing! THanks!
