We officially have a teenager over here! Sophia’s 90’s Themed Birthday Party post is well overdue.. finally made it happen! Ben and I were pretty pleased with her theme choice. haha. Time to relive our glory days! ;) Sophia had some fun ideas that she had pinned from Pinterest and just a few requests- sweets + and photo backdrop set up. I can do that! To throw a 90’s themed party you pretty much have to just grab all the classic processed food you can find haha. The kids were loving it. This theme was fun and easy to throw together! Let’s dive into the party sources, including the awesome $10 backdrop I found on Amazon!
DESSERT TABLE
We moved our long diy table from the office into the sunroom. Love that we did that DIY-It’s been such a handy piece of furniture to use for different events!
I found the cutest 90’s theme banner off Amazon. JUST $9.99!! It was exactly what Sophia was hoping for. We strung it up with a balloon garland around it. The balloons were a mix of ones from Hobby Lobby. I did a balloon garland tutorial here on how I typically do my garlands. (This one was a little different but that’s the general idea of how I attach the balloons to the string.)
We covered the table with our white cake stands and a bunch of fun treats for the kids to enjoy!
Here’s a list of the items we got for the treat table:
Easy Cheese w/Ritz Crackers
Fruit by the foot
Hubba Bubba bubble tape
Gushers
Cosmic Brownies
Blow Pops
Snack Pack Pudding
Cheese Balls
Gushers
Oatmeal Cream Pies
ring pops
Mini Crush Soda Cans
Little Hug Juice Boxes
Sophia wanted an ice cream cake and to make it feel 90’s with topped them with mini troll dolls that I found on Amazon. She loves Nerds Gummy Clusters and they were the perfect color of candy to sprinkle around the base of the cake.
TABLE SET UP
I covered our kitchen table with the gold sequin tablecloth we had gotten for Sophia’s 11th Birthday, A Hollywood Movie Theme. I believe it was Walmart where I found the colorful solo cups. They were the perfect pops of color for our theme! I liked how Sophia had put their names on the cups so that she could really think through, beforehand, where everyone would want to sit. Some girls knew each other and some didn’t…so it was a good way to make sure everyone felt comfortable and had fun.
We had found cute 90’s themed napkins at Party City and put the ring pops in bowls down the middle of the table.
Each spot also had a fanny pack– they wore them when we took the party on the road and went to bowl/play laser tag. They sang the ‘Sophia the First’ theme song SO LOUDLY in the car..it was hilarious and painful at the same time haha.
We had the pizzas out on the island with some fun 90’s themed decor hanging from the ceiling.
PARTY ACTIVITIES
I had found a cute 90’s themed MASH game on Etsy. It’s an immediate download and we printed them off at home on regular paper. It was a fun activity for them to all giggle over while they ate pizza.
PHOTO BOOTH
The girls love taking selfies and friend photos so having a photo op place was a must! ;) The backdrop was from Amazon and we hung it up on my backdrop stand. (It’s been so handy all these years! They don’t have mine for sale anymore but here’s a top seller on Amazon that looks similar- Extendable 10 ft Backdrop Stand.) We found some inflatable 90’s themed props and some classic Photo Booth props. on Amazon. The girls had fun with them!
The blow up chairs were an AMAZING find at Five Below. I mean…that screamed 90’s!
It was a great day celebrating our TEENAGER. How we are here I don’t even know… I blinked and she grew up!
Look at this sweetness….at the end of the night Chase just wanted his big sisters.
There is a 10.5 year age difference between our oldest and youngest…and it’s so sweet seeing their bond!
We love our Sophia so much! I can’t believe she’s already 13…but I couldn’t be more proud of the kind + beautiful young lady she’s growing into! It was fun celebrating her with a 90’s themed birthday party. I am so grateful for how sweet she is and how she lovingly put up with Ben and I dancing around to our favorite 90’s music! I mean she needs to know the classics for sure. ;)
This post is your sign to throw a 90’s themed party in your life soon!
It was a colorful and sweet party!
