Easy Balloon Garland Tutorial

November 23, 2020

I love making my kids’ birthdays extra special around here and an easy (an inexpensive) way to do that is with a balloon garland! This technique is super easy and comes together fast. You don’t need a balloon garland kit either! This is going to be the new way you celebrate in your house – I know it!

SUPPLIES:
+Balloon Ribbon.
(SO CHEAP. I always have a stash of different colors but white is a good basic to have.)

+Balloons.
I love the color options Target’s spritz line has. But you can also find fun ones on Amazon.

+Balloon Pump (optional)
I JUST recently got a balloon pump and it was a game changer. I honestly don’t know why I didn’t get it sooner!! I’ve been telling everyone about it haha. It’s one of those Amazon finds you didn’t know you needed… but you do! Makes these projects go even faster.

+Scissors.

+Command Hooks (optional.)
This is what I use to hang up my garlands but you can also just hammer in a nail or tie to something.

+Shipping Tape
This is the best stuff for my walls. I use it on my walls or when I want to add more balloons (just make some double sided tape and attach the balloons where needed.)

HOW TO:
STEP 1:
Blow up the balloons. Sometimes I do them all the same size…sometimes I mix in different sizes.

STEP 2:
Cut a little slit into the ends of the balloon… (it just takes a little nick from the scissors…you need a hole to string the ribbon through.)

STEP 3:
String the balloons onto your balloon ribbon.
I honestly do this different every time as far as what colors to string on. Just think about the look you want and if you are doing multiple colors just spread them out.

STEP 4:
Hang up your garland! I’m not sure how your set up is…but for me, I typically tie one end to my curtain rod.
When I use the command hooks I will cut another length of balloon ribbon and tie the command hook to the garland ribbon. Because the balloons make it so you can’t really get the main ribbon very close to the command hook.
You could do this same idea and just use one command hook in the middle…tie the extra piece of ribbon to that hook and the middle of your garland.
You can figure this part out but wanted you to at least know the tools I use for hanging mine!

For this “gamer garland” I wanted to incorporate a remote control balloon…so I strung it up (taped to the walls) and then added in more balloons under fit with the double sided tape method.

Love how this one turned out, but even better…my Micah man loved it!
It’s good to be 8. :)

Here’s a bunch of other times where I created a balloon garland to celebrate my kiddos!
We love a party around here – and with 6 kids- there’s always a crowd ready to celebrate! ;)

I hope you give this balloon garland a try – it’s easy and once you do it one time, you can pretty much string one up in your sleep!
If you make one and share on Instagram I would LOVE LOVE to see so message or tag me. Have fun!
