Happy 5th Birthday to our Asher! We threw together a shark themed party and it had all the necessities- sugar, balloons, a piñata, sugar and more sugar!
On theme of course! ;) Today we are sharing the shark themed party we threw- pandemic style- for our Asher!
We went small this year because of the current times, but were still able to make the birthday boy feel special. There’s a big positive to having 5 siblings and 6 cousins down the road…a built in party crowd! Target saved the day with all their fun shark themed party supplies – and a little store bought cake makeover helped me pull off a shark themed cake in a breeze!
I set this all up while he was off at school…so when he walked in the door it was a fun surprise! It doesn’t take much to make Asher smile, but his squeal of joy was so awesome! haha. He loved his party set up and couldn’t wait for his cousins and friend to come and get in on the shark treats!
Right before the party, Asher came downstairs dressed and had brushed his hair and teeth. hehe. He’s the cutest.
TREAT TABLE
I used a mix of blue balloons and green balloons from target to create a balloon arch! I just blow up my balloons…cut a little nick in the bottom of the balloon part and then string them all onto some balloon ribbon! This one I just taped up the ends to the wall…but sometimes I’ll use command hooks for that.
I grabbed the shark snack plates, shark dinner plates, shark plastic tablecloth, shark happy birthday banner and shark napkins at Target.
The blue fringe backdrop is also from Target. I wish I would have grabbed two of them…but we rolled with it!
I love cake stands and any type of tiered trays…if you walk into my house you see them styled in our dining room shelves. When we have a party I just walk through my dining room and grab the ones I want to use! For this party I grabbed two white cake stands and then two metal finished tiered stands. I also used a metal tray, turned upside down, to put the cookie cake on! It was a big square cake so that worked the best.
My Asher loves gummy treats…so I got shark gummies, mini marshmallows and sour gummy worms.
I got little plastic containers to distribute them out into…I thought that would help with little fingers. AND kids always love portioned out treats in small containers. ;) I also grabbed halloween candy sized gummy bears and air heads…and just tossed them into the bottom of one of the trays. Candy makes HAPPY kids. haha.
The soft sugar cookies at Walmart were the perfect blue shade so I grabbed those too!
The large shark balloon from Target was the perfect touch…and it gave the boys hours of fun after the party. I don’t know how it didn’t pop they were wrestling that thing like it was their… brother. haha.
The cookie cake was from Walmart…and I just sprinkled some blue sprinkles on it and added some gummy sharks.(from target)
The 5 candle is also from Target and Asher was soo excited about it. hehe. boom done. happy birthday boy.
PARTY ACTIVITY
I saw this giant shark piñata at Walmart and knew it would be the perfect activity for this crowd of cousins! (+ his one best buddy)
Their oldest cousin offered to take one for the team and hold the piñata haha. The kids loved trying to crack it open but it came down to Uncle Ben/Daddy to get the candy to bust out!! I had gotten these shark treat bags for the little kids to be able to hold their candy loot in!
PARTY FOOD
We had the party at dinner time…and to feed everyone we ordered
some trays of Chick-fil-a nuggets, we made Mac-n-cheese and had grapes and cheese puffs. EASY. I’m all about easy right now haha.
It was a fun evening celebrating our Asher! So thankful for this boy. He is the sweetest kid and loves to love on his family. He’s always making us laugh and drawing us pictures. I can’t believe he’s five. His big ol’bambi eyes make him still seem little to me… stay little! haha.
PRESENTS
I wanted to share some of the presents that he got this year that were HITS!
I know I’m always looking for fun finds for my kids…and with Christmas around the corner, I thought you would want to check these out!
One of the cheapest presents…. was just picking out a bunch of the checkout line candy that he always asks for. He was thrilled with his jackpot of candy!! haha.
