This Halloween season I organized a Trunk or Treat in our new neighborhood and everyone made it AMAZING! It was such a fun afternoon with a bouncy house, food truck and lots of fun runs for the kiddos to get candy from! We made this a way to give back and asked people to bring a non perishable item to donate to a local ministry. Everyone really made the donation drive a success. I felt so grateful for a generous and FUN neighborhood! Today I’m sharing all the shark theme details! It really was an easy trunk to pull together and got such a great response from the kids.
It didn’t take much to make the shark theme trunk come to life!
I got some Ocean themed party supplies off Amazon like a water print plastic tablecloth, net material, and shark sighting signs. the balloons were a mixture of ones off Amazon and Target. I will say the netting I bought was just a long strip…so I had to cut it in half and tie it together to make it hold the balloons up… Probably could find a better net but you get the idea. We just plopped it up on top of the trunk and taped it down. I wanted to add some fun texture and shimmery blue colors so I used a metallic table skirt, a streamer backdrop and some fabric (from hobby lobby) to layer in and around the trunk. One of my favorite Amazon finds for this was the big shell bowls that were perfect to hold the candy in!
I added some fun inflated shark balloons to really bring the shark theme home. The grey ones I got aren’t available but this blue shark balloon set is cute and similar!
I wanted to have an activity at our trunk and found this awesome ocean themed bean bag toss!
It was the perfect little set up for the tiny ones to play with AND the boys have had so much fun with it before and after this event.
I knew I wanted Chase to be a shark for Halloween – this costume was just too cute at Target! I usually let me big kids choose their Halloween costume and don’t stress too much about a theme…but when they are babies, that’s when I have the matching fun! I decided to be a scuba diver. any custom where I can rock leggings is gonna work for me. ;) Can still wrangle kids and be festive! For my costume I just wore a black long sleeve shirt (target) and some leggings I had. I got a snorkeling kit at target and did an easy DIY for my oxygen tanks! I had spray painted soda bottles with silver spray paint, taped them together with black and silver tape. I got some black material at Hobby Lobby to use as my straps. Just taped them all together and called it a day! I wore the flippers for the trunk or treat but didn’t attempt them during actual Halloween. haha. That would have been a challenge considering my kids RAN that night.
Ben was fun and surprised me with a giant inflatable shark costume he got off Amazon. It was THE HIT and made the trunk even more fun!
At first, Chase was terrified of it. But as soon as Ben started singing the baby shark song…all the giggles! So just break into song if your kids are afraid of it haha.
The girls had their own trunk theme going on! They did hippies/flower power and set up face painting at their trunk. I had gotten some flower details on clearance at Hobby Lobby and Michaels. I also got some tie dye tablecloths off Amazon.
It was such great afternoon of community. We had 18 trunks and the parking lot ended up really bustling there!
I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out…Excited for next year’s! ;)
I didn’t get a photo but I got cute halloween themed yard signs at the front of the clubhouse parking lot.
The ones I picked out aren’t available but here’s a similar set: Cute halloween yard signs.
