We are getting a little festive over here today with a Halloween Tassel Garland Tutorial!
I wanted to add a pop up color and Halloween to our mantel. I love this color combo so much!
I used yarn, fabric scraps and twine to add some texture and fun to this space.
This is such an easy project you can whip it up one night while bing watching your favorite show!
Maybe, if you are braver than me, it will be a scary movie…
but I’m a total wimp and end up watching scary movies with no audio haha.
On to the tutorial!
HOW TO
First choose the yarn and fabric color combo you like!
I got the yarn here at Walmart and then fabric and twine from Hobby Lobby.
To make the yarn tassels you just wrap the yarn around a book (I think I did 60 times??) Just eyeball it till it’s the thickness you want!
Carefully, slide of the yarn loop fro the book….and take a small piece of yarn…slide it through the top part and double knot!
Then take another small piece of yarn to tie the “head” of the tassel. Cut the loop at the bottom to make it hang all cute and your’e done with that part!
Whip up a bunch of of them in different colors. you can make them as short or long as you want.
I then took black twine and attached the tassels at the top with another small piece of yarn.
I took my fabric scraps and cut them into little strips – and tied them to the twine in between my tassels.
I use command hooks to hang this on mantel.
Make this DIY your own by doing your own color schemes! I’ve even seen this
same idea used with white yarn and they made the tassels into little ghosts!
Happy Halloween!
